How Renting a Boat Works

  • Once all forms have been signed and payment has been accepted, rental instructions and a code to a lock box will be emailed.  Please note, this is an independent check-in/check-out process.  If you have questions once on site please feel free to reach out to us and we will be happy to help.

Eligible Renters

  • Renters/drivers must be born on or after January 1, 1988 or have a valid boating boater safety certificate.
  • Renters/drivers must have a valid driver’s license.

Safety

  • The boat has USCG approved life jackets for 11 people on board in case of emergency.  Please ensure you know where the life jackets are located and how to put them on.  Due to insurance requirements, all individuals are required to wear a life jacket when entering the water.  No exceptions.
  •  Lake Gaston Outdoor Rentals requires children under the age of 13 to wear a life jacket at ALL TIMES when on the boat. No exceptions.
  • Due to insurance requirements, tubing, waterskiing, wakeboarding etc. is not permitted.
  • No beaching or deliberately pulling the boat onto a shoreline is permitted.  This can be a potential safety hazard to passengers on board and this also risks damaging the boat.  Any boat rental that returns with evidence of beaching will be charged damages accordingly.

Fuel

  • Rental boats are prepared with a full tank of gas at the beginning of the rental.  Rentals are required to be returned with a full tank of gas.
  • FAILURE TO REFILL THE BOAT will result in a $50 fee plus$5/gal for additional fuel needed.

Security Deposit/Damages

  • A security deposit is required.
  • Renters are responsible for all damages incurred during their rental period.
  • Upon post rental inspection, damages (if any) will be the renters responsibility.
  • Absolutely no pets or grills are allowed our rentals.

Inclement Weather Policy

  • Boat rentals stand regardless of weather conditions with the exception of inclement weather.  Inclement weather is defined as weather where there are unsafe conditions, such as a warning of severe, high wind advisory or tornado as defined by the National Weather Service.  Weather claims will be handled on a case by case basis.
  • In the case weather turns severe while you are on the lake, seek a place of safety such as a cove, an inlet, or a protected shoreline and anchor the boat at the bow (front) into the wind.

Alcohol/Drugs

  • Beer, wine, and liquor is NOT allowed.
  • Illegal drugs including marijuana is NOT allowed.
